Multisite Network Creation and Management
Machine has been building and managing large-scale WordPress installations for over a decade. Whether it’s one website with thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of posts, pages, or products, or a Multisite network of dozens of websites, we have the knowledge and experience to help.
We currently maintain multisite networks for several school boards, including the Rainbow District School Board (RDSB), the Conseil Scholaire Public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO), and the Sudbury Catholic District School Board (SCDSB). Each network includes a main board website plus up to 85 individual school websites.
Managing 85 individual websites would be time consuming and expensive, while managing a multisite network is quick and painless. The multisite network reduces overhead by merging all websites into a single WordPress install, and allows sites to share a common codebase, including the WordPress core and all plugins and themes.
When the SCDSB approached Machine to help manage their individual sites, our first recommendation was to migrate to a multisite network.
Our migration process ensured that the sites were merged in a quick and efficient manner, allowing the sites to continue to be available to the public during our work.
A few short days later, all sites were migrated, optimized, and fully manageable by the new Multisite’s Super Administrators.
Monthly savings on core and plugin updates meant that the SCDSB could focus on maintaining and enhancing functionality for the website’s users.
