NAV CANADA is a privately run, not-for-profit corporation that owns and operates Canada’s civil air navigation system. Direct Route was NAV CANADA’s printed newsletter which served the company in communicating news with their customers since its launch in 2005. However, it was failing to keep up with the ever-increasing speed of today’s news and information and was ultimately being discontinued. We worked with NAV CANADA to fully design and develop its new fully bilingual WordPress website: The NAV CANADA blog.
NAV CANADA had just received a full re-brand and with their new brand guide we were able to create an online experience that their customers would learn to know and love. NAV’s 4 categories were colour-coded to give each category page it’s own personality and the NAV CANADA blue gradient is used throughout the website to add consistency. The Twitter section drew inspiration from their new logo, incorporating angles which represent the wing span of a plane.
We developed a floating subscription button which follows the reader as they scroll and on hover pops out to reveal the signup form. Another pop-out feature is at the bottom of each blog post, enticing readers to click through to the next article and keep the reader on the site.
Machine continues custom WordPress development to add new features and enhance existing functionality, while keeping WordPress and its plugins secure and up to date.
