Niagara Canada is home to one of the world’s most stunning Natural wonders, Niagara Falls, but Niagara also offers visitors a host of small treasures that inspire on a completely different level. The goal of visitniagaracanada.com is to showcase the endless possibilities while visiting Niagara’s 5 communities.

Tourism Niagara Canada looked to Machine to breathe life back into their previously designed and developed Joomla website. With careful review and consideration for all of its integral parts we worked together to import the site’s entirety to a custom WordPress environment.

Keeping in mind the previous design, much care was taken to ensure the overall look and feel was not lost during the move to WordPress. Design updates and improvements were made by Machine to increase its overall usability and to introduce new custom sections.

One of the most intricate pieces in their new WordPress website was the complex filtering system which allows potential visitors to easily navigate, filter and plan their trips accordingly. Divided into their appropriate categories, all things to Do, Taste and See can be easily perused according to region and type. The user can toggle between list and map view at their leisure to visually explore distances of their potential plans.

Each individual Do, Taste and Stay receives its own landing page. A home for all of the business or events details including a brief description, contact info and address. We integrated a custom TripAdvisor traveler rating section so the user gets authentic feedback in real time. A section for Activities Nearby uses geolocation tags to promote nearby experiences including its exact distance away.

Finally, we gave the user the ability to plan their trip directly on Tourism Niagara Canada’s WordPress website. Once an item is added to the My Trip page a link is created which allows the user to edit, share and print their trip details.

Machine continues custom WordPress development to add new features and enhance existing functionality, while keeping WordPress and its plugins secure and up to date.
